In as big of a celebration as you can have during a pandemic, the Tokyo 2020 Olympics came to a close, and the flame has been extinguished. We've got the details on the ceremony and the handover to Paris 2024.
Day 17. It's the end of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. On this episode we look at the final day of competition, including the dramatic conclusion to the maranovela.
It's the penultimate day of competition, which means many sports are wrapping up their tournaments and crowning Olympic champions. Or, in some sports, they're protesting their scores and making commentators work overtime. Plus, it's a hot morning up in Sapporo (surprise!), which means a tough episode of our maranovela.
It was a banner day for TKFLASTAN as we had many Team Keep the Flame Alive athletes competing.....all at the same time. This made for a hectic, but fun day of viewing. And, Alison's shopping for feed bags!
Along with results for the day's 21-sport program, we are also very concerned about the age of some women (really girls) competing in diving and skateboarding. And we interrupt our results for a major rant about NBC's coverage and programming decisions, spurred when the feed cut out on the men's bronze medal hockey game with about five minutes to go.
Is the 400m hurdles the event of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, or what?!? We got to see another great day of competition, both with monumental victories and heartbreaking losses.
Day 12 of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics turned out to be the day where Jill and Alison lost it. So much Olympic action, so much lost sleep, so many names to try to pronounce! That said, Day 12 also features the race of the Games: 400m hurdles. Do yourself a favor and watch it (maybe again) before the show.
For "only" 21 sports on the agenda, today had an incredible amount of action! Especially from Cuba! And there was a podium protest!
When swimming and athletics overlap, it can test the mettle and resilience of any Olympics fan....well, those who try to watch both of those sports on the same day. That said, today's competition was excellent, with many must-see moments.
Today's Tokyo 2020 Olympics event program included a lot of mixed gender team events that were new for Tokyo. Were they successful? We were surprised our reactions to them!
We're at the halfway point of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and we're still trying to figure out optimal watching schedules. Don't worry though, we've seen a lot of action from the 27-sport schedule today!
With Simone Biles out of the artistic gymnastics competition, all eyes were on the women's Olympic All-Around. What happened? What does Alison think of today's leotards? Listen to find out!
It says something when a 26-sport day feels manageable. Still, there were some amazing moments in competition on Day 6 at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Who surprised us today?
SO much action, and SO many unexpected things happened today at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Buckle up because we've got 30 sports on today's program.
